Back in 2004, a charity was launched in Australia and New Zealand raising awareness and funds for men’s health. In 2007, the United States and a handful of other countries began to participate in the event, encouraging men to get involved in learning family health history, early detection, treatment, and greatly reduce the number of preventable deaths by promoting a healthy lifestyle.
Movember (combining “mo”, for “mustache”, and “November”), asks men to grow mustaches all month long to gain and spread knowledge of prostate cancer and other male initiatives. The motto of Movember is to “change the face of men’s health”. To register and participate go to:

Tasteful Pleasures is an annual charitable fashion show and fundraiser benefitting the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. This year it was held at Red Cat Jazz Cafe in Downtown, Houston. Hosted by the beautiful Crystal Wall, the event was full of life from start to finish.
Upon entering Red Cat, guests were greeted by a table filled with cupcakes, cookies, and gold gum balls!! Aujane’s Sweets is a relatively new catering company specializing in a vast array of desserts and is available for many different types of events.
I tasted every item on the dessert table! The pink cupcakes were moist and the frosting was a whipped dream. Next, I tried the sugar cookies, which were in the shape of the pink breast cancer ribbon and topped with sugar crystals. The cookies had the perfect balance of chewiness and crunch. Just what I want in a cookie! I finished up with the gold bubble gum! I felt like a kid blowing bubbles and chatting with the awesome people in the audience.
The theme this year was Zodiac signs and sticking with the sweet theme, each style was made out of candy!! Skittles, peppermints, lemon drops, and bubblegum were some of the sweet treats that were incorporated into each glamourous outfit. The models’ outfits were styled after each Zodiac sign. My favorite, Sagittarius, had tasty green and yellow skittles outlining the top and shorts making your eyes pop when the model sashayed down the runway.
After the show I made my way over to the gorgeous jewelry that was on display. Provided by Amusing Jewelry, each unique, hand-crafted design was a statement piece. I adored the breast cancer themed items, charm bracelets, rings keychains, and more. I purchased a breast cancer ring at the end of the night, and I have had it on all week so far!! It goes with everything.
Tasteful Pleasures was a fun and unique way to raise money and awareness for breast cancer; with so many women affected each and every year, Tasteful Pleasures was such a sweet way to educate myself and show my support for Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.

This is the second year that I have had the privilege to be photographed. My first year the shoot was held in Palm Springs, California. This year I was surprised to hear there was a shoot in Houston, Texas, my new home! So on October 18, 2012, at the University of Houston, I was photographed by the amazing Adam Bouska. It was a privilege and an honor.
This bag has been stalking me from blogs to websites to magazines for the past few months. It is my current obsession. Running upwards of $800, this is not an investment I am taking lightly. I want this bag, but is comes in so many wonderful colors and patterns, I’m finding the price tag isn’t the only thing making me hesitate. How do you choose? Classic black or tan, that will go with any outfit. Fall colors like hunter green or maroon. Spring pink or winter white. Cobalt, a color that is trending so hard right now, or make a statement with clear, patent leather or gold! What would you choose? Play it safe or get noticed?
Thanks to Cadillac and fashion blogger, Lynne Gabriel, I had the opportunity to attend the Simon Malls Fashion NOW event on Thursday, September 6th, otherwise known as Fashion’s Night Out! I have attended this same event numerous times in Scottsdale and Los Angeles so this was an experience I was more than happy to attend.
FNO was held at the Houston Galleria, one of the nation’s most premiere malls. The event had the top stores providing lite bites, drinks and fabulous discounts all weekend!
Thursday afternoon, before the official Fashion Night Out later that evening, my Cadillac CTS Sedan was delivered to allow me ample time to adjust to it’s luxurious features. I arrived at Del Frisco and was swept into the Cadillac hosted pre-party, where we drank champagne and ate delicious Sprinkles mini cupcakes before heading to the fashion show. After being seated (in the front row), the beautiful fall line sashayed up and down the runway. It was so refreshing to see a runway show done so well in Houston. Tall, thin models presented the clothing lines with the upmost grace and beauty. Afterward, the party popped off at Gigi’s Asian Bistro. Delicious dumplings, spring rolls, and more bubbly flowed as we sipped and mingled with other Houston fashion lovers.
Once I was home from my perfect evening, I went through the amazing swag bags provided by Cadillac. Full size, OPI nail polish, Grey Goose vodka, a candle, a Cadillac purse mirror, and earbuds, just to name a few. What a great start to a wonderful shopping weekend at the Galleria.
Thank you again, Cadillac and Lynne Gabriel, for this wonderful opportunity!
Quick Wednesday update!!! I recently entered Lynne Gabriels’s “Show Me Your Cadillac Inspired Outfit” contest and thanks to this LBD, I won! I get a whole week with the Cadillac CTS Sedan and will attend, VIP style, the Simon Mall’s Fashion Show at the Galleria on September 6th!! I couldn’t be more excited!! I will update with the pics from the photo shoot as soon as I get them! Happy Hump Day!
As one of the Houston Fashion Bloggers, I was invited to attend the first annual Fashion and Beauty Expo in Houston. The event was amazing, housing a wonderful mix of local designers, skincare professionals, Mary Kay representatives, cookware demonstrations and much more! There were so many awesome vendors, and they all took the time to talk about their products, demonstrate and provide samples. A girl’s dream!
I had a chance to sit up close at the Remix Fashion Boutique fashion show! Their motto, “Where Vintage meets Modern,” is perfect. The outfits that strutted down the runway were just that. Mixing old pieces with new neons, asymmetrical cuts, brights and blazers, these ladies knew how to ‘WOW’ the crowd with their unique and polished looks. The beautiful ladies had such a chic look and impressed us all!
I then made my way to the ladies behind “To the T!” boutique. With owner Arleita Evans and close friends, these women were keeping it fresh with the latest, most current fashion trends. The variety of items these women provide will keep any fashionista well accessorized for any occasion. They sell all types of purses and jewelry, some of which were designed by the company’s owner, Arleita.
The next table I hit was a huge inspiration for following your heart and doing what you love. Jewels by Anike are handcrafted, one-of-a-kind, fashionable and unique designs. Each beautiful piece has such detail and is sure to make a statement every time they are worn.
To wrap up my fabulous day of beauty, I chatted with natural skin and haircare products creator, Carmelia Cain. Her products, “Pretty by Ce Ce”, use all natural ingredients in a variety of lotions, scrubs, shampoos and conditioners, just to name a few.
After smelling some of the most amazing blends of fruits and flowers, I purchased a body sugar scrub. Needless to say, I used it that very same night. I am sold. This will now be the new staple in my shower! The giant sugar crystals smoothed away any rough skin and the oils moisturized like a dream. The exfoliate/moisturize combo is usually hit or miss with me, with products being too much of one thing. This sugar scrub, however, is not! The harmonious balance of this scrub not only made my skin feel good but made me feel even better knowing I wasn’t loaded up on chemicals. Thanks Carmelia!
Special thank you to Shalanda Turner, Remix Fashion, “To the T!” Boutique, Riyike Faleti, Carmelia M. Cain and the Crowne Plaza Hotel. Can’t wait for next year!
I am in the market for some stylish, sophisticated outfits that will take me from these summer months through the fall. I am currently loving peplum dresses. Blazers are my classic go to for a polished look and the man, Christian Louboutin, for shoes. Through my years of shopping experience I have learned that the better quality shoe, the less your feet will hurt. I am obsessing over some Louboutin’s that I recently found on Ebay. We’ll see if I win!
Happy Hump day!
